Fourteen riders lined up for the 8km time trial, around the Three Bridges circuit at Horsham.

Riders started at the Fultons Road/Three Bridges Road intersection, and headed out along the Three Bridges Road before turning left into a stiff wind on the Noradjuha Road. They then turned back towards the start along Carmichael Road.

Danny Monaghan revealed his shiny new time trial bike, complete with full carbon rear wheel, then went on to post the fastest time of the day with 13 minutes flat. Next best was Tim Schneider with 13 minutes 36 sec followed by Gerard O’Brien with 13 minutes 59 seconds and Drew Heard with 14 minutes 5 seconds.

Other times were Peter Parnaby - 14 min 21 sec, Alan Barnett - 14 min 25 sec, Tony Lloyd - 14 min 44 sec, Daryl Elliott - 15 min 3 sec, Peter Mayo - 15 min 12 sec, Meg Parnaby - 15 min 32 sec, Les Power - 15 min 34 sec, Damian Rabl - 15 min 48 sec, Larry Bales - 18 min 18 sec.

Riders then lined up for a 28 kilometer scratch race. Riders headed towards Noradjuha, then completed two laps of the Plush Hannans circuit before returning to the Walshes Road Bus Shelter.

A grade riders Drew Heard, Tim Schneider, Alan Barnett, Gerard O’Brien and Danny Monaghan were first away, with O’Brien trying to break clear on one of the laps through the hills. However, he gained a lead of about 60 meters, before Monaghan and Schneider closed the gap down again. So in the end it came down to the sprint, with Heard first across the line ahead of Schneider.

B grade riders Peter Mayo, Peter Parnaby, Tony Lloyd and Daryl Elliott rode reasonably sedately, leaving the fight to the final sprint. Lloyd got a flying start, and was not headed, with Elliott crossing the line second.

C grade riders Les Power, Meg Parnaby, Damian Rabl, and Tom Eldridge also rode sedately until the sprint, with Power crossing the line ahead of Eldridge.

Larry Bales took out the D grade event in fine style.
